Pat's interest in abstract and impressionistic photography was piqued in the early 1970s. Extreme shallow depth of field close-ups was an initial creative approach. Fascination with wind guided him to experiment with multiple exposure compositions to interpret the grace of movement. Throughout the 1980's and 1990's he continued to refine these techniques. High grain color films were added to his endeavors for soft effects. During the past decade, black and white infared film was an appropriate choice; images were scanned and selectively colorized in Photoshop.

Garden of the Mind's eye is an expression of a dream world of softness and comfort. This thematic work acts as a counterbalance to Pat's classic work of sharp hyperfocal landscapes.
