Pat returned to Georgia during the summer of 1998 to research, scout and photograph a selection of Georgia's abundant and diverse resources. He had official meetings with the Minister of Environment, Chairman of the Protected Areas Programme, some regional governors and other organizations who all pledged support of his proposed photography project to visually interpret Georgia's natural heritage and cultural monuments. His project took place over the period of 1999-2001 on numerous extended return trips.
